आपल्याला रस्त्यावर असंख्य भटकी कुत्रे दिसत असतात. कोणी या कुत्र्यांना दगड मारतो, तर कधी वेगात असलेल्या गाडी खाली आल्याने या कुत्र्यांचा मृत्यू होतो. त्यामुळे या बेघर, भटक्या कुत्र्यांसाठी कोण आहे ? असा प्रश्न निर्माण होतो. मात्र मॅक्सिकोच्या एका व्यक्तीने जे या कुत्र्यांसाठी केले ते खरचं कौतुकास्पद आहे.
मॅक्सिकोचे Edgardo Perros यांनी या कुत्र्यांसाठी 14,000 किमीचा चालत प्रवास केला आहे.

या भटक्या कुत्र्यांना मदत करणाऱ्या एडगार्डो पेरोस यांची कहानी फोटोग्राफर स्टुअर्ट विल्यम्स मुळे समोर आली. जेव्हा स्टुअर्टचे लक्ष एडगार्डो यांच्याकडे गेले तेव्हा ते रस्त्याच्या कडेने कुत्र्यांना घेऊन जात होते. त्यांच्या ट्रॉलीच्या सामानासोबत कुत्रे बसलेले होते.
Edgardo Perros – Saviour of the Dogs
A few months ago I was driving out of the small Mexican town of Mazunte, Oaxaca, when I saw a peculiar sight on the side of the road. A man was pushing a trolley along the road and surrounding him were dogs. Dogs were on top of his trolley. Dogs were behind him, in front of him and by his side. Tails were wagging furiously, barks were sounding and he just kept pushing his trolley through the heat. This is the story of Edgardo Perros. 49 वर्षीय एडगार्डो सांगतात की, कोणीही रस्त्यावर भटकणाऱ्या बेघर कुत्र्यांची मदत करत नाही. मला वाटते की, मनुष्य असो की, प्राणी अशा परिस्थितीत प्रत्येकाला मदतीची आणि प्रेमाची गरज असते.
मागील 6 वर्षात एडगार्डोने 500 आजारी आणि दुखापत झालेल्या कुत्र्यांना वाचवले आहे. याशिवाय त्यांना घर देखील दिले आहे. आतापर्यंत एडगार्डोने मॅक्सिकोमध्ये जवळपास 14,000 किमीचा प्रवास केला आहे. आता आपल्या लक्ष्यापर्यंत पोहचण्यासाठी त्यांना केवळ 1,432 किमीचा प्रवास करायचा आहे. त्यांच्याकडे स्वतःचे तीन कुत्रे आहेत. जे मागील 6 वर्षांपासून त्यांच्याबरोबर प्रवास करत आहे.
